Harry Winks is deservedly regarded as one of our brightest young players and for all right reasons. His displays at the heart of the midfield have been undeniably promising but despite playing quite regularly at the beginning of the season, the 22-year-old has had to miss out on quite a bit due to an ankle injury.
The timing of it all is rather unfortunate, especially with World Cup selection at stake. However, if a report from Evening Standard is to be believed, the player is inching closer to joining the first-team training, meaning he could feature for the club this season.
His ankle troubles have been rather dire since the report has also gone on to claim that he spent time with specialists in Qatar in order to recover.
There were concerns as to whether or not he would require surgery but Evening Standard has claimed that he is good to go without one.
Winks was incredibly impressive for Spurs in the initial stages of the season and he delivered some effective performances for England as well.
In fact, he was one of the top contenders for a spot in Gareth Southgate’s squad but now it remains to be seen if he can make it.
His absence has truly cost us at certain points. How can anybody forget his influential performances against Real Madrid in the Champions League group stages? He battled some of the best midfielders in the world – Luka Modric and Toni Kroos and managed to come out on top.
He is definitely a future star for us and it is important for Tottenham to give him the time he needs in order to recover completely.
We have four games remaining but if Winks can make it, it will truly be a sign of dedication and commitment from the youngster.
