One of our targets from the past, Max Meyer, will be available on a free transfer at the end of the season. His current club, Schalke, shared an update on their Twitter profile and stated that the situation was being dealt “professionally”.
Meyer was linked with a move to Tottenham in the past but his contract situation with Schalke was always the talking point, given that the club had been losing players for free on a regular basis.
Joel Matip is one of those players who left the Bundesliga side on a free transfer and Meyer could follow suit.
Tottenham need to add players in the summer, especially in the midfield, given that Mousa Dembele has had his injury concerns and Victor Wanyama is slowly getting back to his best.
We also have Moussa Sissoko and it will be interesting to see if Tottenham make a move for Meyer. We have one of the brightest managers in the world and there is no doubt that he could use someone of Meyer’s versatility.

The German midfielder can play as an attacking midfielder or even deeper in the midfield and dictate the play. The 22-year-old is known for his passing range and ability to break up the opposition attacks with his interception skills.
Meyer is known to have a great shot too but he has not scored too many goals for the Royal Blues this season, with just one goal to his name.
The German has a lot of years in him to get better and he could certainly do a decent job under Pochettino as we look to challenge for titles next season.
A player joining us for free cannot be a bad deal and if somehow we can convince the German to join, he could become one of the signings of next season.
