According to a report from Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur could sell a total of 4 first-team superstars to raise a sum of £170m to fund incoming transfers this summer.
Over the years, Tottenham have established themselves as a club that prefers developing talent as opposed to purchasing them.
However, after finishing yet another season without a trophy, it seems like Daniel Levy is ready to usher in some changes with respect to spending practices.
The report claims that Spurs are willing to let go of the likes of Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Victor Wanyama and Mousa Dembele.
All these players have been key for us over the years. Prior to Ben Davies’ emergence, Rose was a trusted custodian at the left-back position. Alderweireld’s partnership with fellow centre-back Jan Vertonghen was a bond envied by many a club while Dembele has played a crucial role for us this season as well.
His partnership with Eric Dier at the base of the midfield has proven to be rather beneficial for us. Ever since Mauricio Pochettino switched from playing a 3-4-3 to a 4-2-3-1, Dembele’s role has become quite crucial.
However, to herald changes and truly elevate our performances to make a strong title challenge next season, one cannot deny that the squad needs reinforcements in several areas.
Over the last couple of seasons, we have come close to winning silverware but somehow, our performances always stutter before the finish line.
To ensure that does not happen next term, will the colossal sum of £170m be sufficient? Only time will tell.
