According to the Daily Mirror, Tottenham Hotspur are ready to break the bank by splashing £100million plus to sign Lazio duo Sergey Milinkovic-Savic and Ciro Immobile this summer.
Milinkovic-Savic, 23, has become one of the most highly-rated young midfielders in Europe this season, with his combative displays in the midfield. The hard-tackling Serbian has 12 goals and 6 assists to his name as he continues to develop his game at a rapid pace.
Speaking about Ciro Immobile, the Italian has been in blistering form this campaign for Lazio. He has scored a staggering 41 goals in 45 games this season and has also provided 9 assists, making him the perfect back-up for Spurs striker Harry Kane.
The Daily Mirror says it will take a fee of £100m to land both the Lazio stars, with Tottenham planning to offload a number of fringe players in the summer.
The likes of Danny Rose, Toby Alderweireld, Mousa Dembele, Victor Wanyama and Moussa Sissoko will leave in summer as manager Mauricio Pochettino wants to maintain the core of the squad, the report adds.
It would be tough to capture both Milinkovic-Savic and Immobile from Lazio at the end of the season, given their stocks have gone high following the current impressive season.
The Lilywhites should strengthen their attack in the summer. Harry Kane is a mercurial striker but he has been single-handedly shouldering the burden of the club. Adding a proven goal-scorer like Immobile would be wonderful for the north London outfit.
In midfield, Milinkovic-Savic would bring the feistiness and bite which has been lacking at times this season. He would also prove to be a great successor to the ageing Mousa Dembele.
In all fairness, Milinkovic-Savic and Immobile, who have been well scouted by us in the last few weeks (as per the Daily Mirror), would certainly improve the current Tottenham squad.
