Tottenham labelled 2/1 favourites to sign 20-year-old Celtic star

published :

As per a report from Football London, Tottenham Hotspur are the new bookmakers’ favourites to sign highly-rated Celtic sensation Kieran Tierney.

Spurs have been credited with an interest in Tierney for a while now. The youngster has also attracted attention from Manchester United, according to Football London, and it remains to be seen how the situation plays out in the upcoming summer transfer window.

Tierney has all the qualities of a modern-day full-back. He prefers playing at left-back but his attacking prowess makes him a dangerous player even when surging forward.

The 20-year-old has appeared 30 times for Celtic in the Scottish Premiership this season, during which he has managed to score 4 goals and provide a solitary assist. His exploits have deservedly placed him on the transfer wishlist of quite a few top-flight clubs.

However, if BetStar’s Director of Trading Ian Marmion is to be believed, Tottenham are the favourites to acquire a deal for Tierney.

“Kieran Tierney’s impressive season for Celtic has drawn the attention of a host of Premier League clubs, with Tottenham leading the chase for the young defender.

“Mauricio Pochettino’s side are the clear 2/1 favourites to sign the 20-year-old, who has made 45 appearances for Scottish champions Celtic this season,” he concluded.

As things stand, Danny Rose has been in and out of injuries this season and even when he has stepped out in a Tottenham shirt, his performances have been average. If we are to truly embark on a quest for silverware next term, we will need another pacy left-back apart from Ben Davies.

Thus, given a choice, a deal for Tierney could benefit us. However, with Celtic set to win the Scottish league once again under Brendan Rodgers’ guidance, it seems highly unlikely that the youngster would even consider an exit, given that he’s a boyhood Celtic fan.
