Tottenham suffer transfer blow as 20-year-old target reveals he’s happy at current club

As per a report by Football London, Tottenham Hotspur might have to wait a while before they can get their hands on Celtic sensation Kieran Tierney.

Recently, the same publication had claimed that Spurs are the bookmakers’ favourites to land Tierney. However, if the player’s interview with Daily Record is anything to go by, it seems like he is quite happy at Parkhead for now.

The 20-year-old was overjoyed after picking up the Scottish Football Writers’ Young Player of the Year award for the third time in a row and he confirmed that he had no intentions of leaving Celtic anytime soon.

“It has happened during most windows since I broke through – it’s good for me,” said Tierney.

“If somebody wants to buy you that means you’re doing something right. When big teams are looking at you it’s flattering. It doesn’t bother me or distract me because I’m enjoying myself. I’m playing for Celtic so I’m happy,” he affirmed.

Tierney is the epitome of a modern-day full-back and he has earned rave reviews for his performances at left-back this season. Mauricio Pochettino is known to place a strong emphasis on signing full-backs who can attack with equal gusto and Tierney certainly fits the bill.

Also, with Danny Rose’s lack of form, there has been a lot of pressure on Ben Davies to perform well on a consistent basis. Having a player like Tierney in the ranks would certainly benefit Tottenham in the seasons to come but for now, it looks like we will have to wait.

Football London claims that Tierney could cost a transfer fee in excess of £20million and to be fair, that is a decent sum to pay for a youngster as talented as the Scotsman. But good things to come to those who wait and perhaps it would be better for us to wait a little more before making a move for Tierney this summer.
