As per a report from Spanish publication Don Balon (h/t Express), Real Madrid have rejected offers from Tottenham Hotspur for the summer transfer of Gareth Bale.
Since Bale’s departure to the La Liga giants, there has often been speculation about his possible return to the Premier League. During his time with Spurs, Bale enjoyed a stature similar to that of Harry Kane’s right now but things have not worked out for him in recent times.
Upon moving to Santiago Bernabeu, Bale formed a deadly trio with Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema but last season saw him out of action for a good majority of the campaign. His never-ending slew of injuries coupled with a lack of form prevented him from the making the kind of impact he is truly capable of.
However, his last few outings seemed to be successful, which once again put him in the spotlight regarding a possible exit this summer. The Express claims Tottenham are one of the clubs keen on purchasing him but it seems like Real have rejected the offer.
According to Express, Tottenham have offered a fee in the region of £57m but it seems like Florentino Perez will accept nothing less than £82m.
This is a steep price to pay for a player who has failed to deliver consistent results. A lot of us have pleasant memories about Bale but will it be wise to spend £82m to re-sign him?
