Tottenham receive golden opportunity to sign Premier League attacker in cut-price deal

Xherdan Shaqiri

According to a report by The Sun, Stoke City winger Xherdan Shaqiri has expressed a desire to move to a Champions League club this summer.

The same report has credited Tottenham with an interest in the pacy winger and it also mentioned that Shaqiri has a release clause of just £12million, now that Stoke have been relegated from the Premier League.

The Potters endured a terrible season which saw them drop down to the Championship. In such a situation, it is not surprising to see the former Inter Milan player sniffing around for a potential exit.

This does provide us with greater reason to pursue him. Shaqiri is a brilliant player who was stuck in an underperforming side with Stoke but now, he has a good chance of an exit. We could land him by paying his release clause of £12million, which is a bargain fee in today’s market.

Stoke may have been relegated but Shaqiri was one of their better performers throughout the recently concluded campaign. He even managed to score a total of 8 goals while providing 7 assists and it goes without saying that he could work wonders at a club like Tottenham.

At 26 years of age, Shaqiri is the ideal blend of experience and skills, making him a player that can truly thrive under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance.

Also, with players like Dele Alli and Harry Kane working alongside him, Shaqiri could take his game to the next level. Since we managed to finish in the top-four, the player will also be able to realise his dream of playing in the Champions League.
