As per a report by Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have made £65,000-a-week Manchester United star Anthony Martial a top target for this summer transfer window, as they look for a Harry Kane backup.
The young Frenchman played as a regular for the Red Devils in the initial stages of the season but upon Alexis Sanchez’s arrival from Arsenal, Martial has found his game time increasingly limited. He seems to favour playing on the left-wing but with competition from Marcus Rashford and Sanchez, the winger has hardly featured for United in recent times.
As it is, Martial’s tenure at United has not been the best. He has struggled for regular game time and it looks like Tottenham are willing to extend a lifeline.
Martial can also play on the right-wing and as a central striker but he seems to be finding it tough to flourish under Jose Mourinho at Old Trafford.
In such a situation, moving to Tottenham does seem like a good option. He could bolster our attacking strength to a great extent by competing with Christian Eriksen and Heung-min Son for a spot on the wings while also acting as a deputy for Harry Kane. Thus, Martial indeed looks like a good choice for us.
Despite finding it hard to play regularly this term, Martial has still managed to register a total of 11 goals and 7 assists across competitions for United.
It goes on to show that the 22-year-old has the skills to get to the next level and Mauricio Pochettino would certainly be able to help him do just that.
