Real Madrid walked away with yet another sensational Champions League win by subjecting Liverpool to a humiliating 3-1 defeat. The star of the show was none other than former Tottenham superstar Gareth Bale.
The Welshman did not feature much for Los Blancos in the recently concluded season and his injury did not work in his favour. But he proved his naysayers wrong by putting in a game-changing performance against the Merseyside outfit at Kiev.
He came on after replacing Isco and scored a splendid bicycle kick to put Real in the driver’s seat. Bale scored another one shortly after which sealed the victory for Real in spectacular fashion.
However, more than his exploits on the field, Bale was in the news for what he said after. Speaking to BT Sport, Bale hinted at a possible exit from Santiago Bernabeu this summer. As quoted by Football London, Bale said:
“I need to be playing week in week out, and that’s not happened this season for one reason or another.
“I had a five- or six-week injury at the start of the season and I’ve been fit ever since so now I have to sit down in the summer and discuss it with my agent and take it from there.”
That does provide scope for Tottenham to harbour hopes of a possible reunion. Here’s how our fellow supporters reacted on Twitter:
Imagine the 1st home game of the new season, Spurs new stadium walking into it wearing a Bale shirt. Dreams.. #COYS

Genuinely would cut one of my legs off if it meant I could see Gareth Bale back in a Spurs shirt again

No doubt the multi millionaire Gareth Bale could leave Madrid & sign for a team who pays him a bit more than Spurs for a few years, but going back to Spurs will give him much much more, he will have a job for life & be a Spurs legend forever – your choice Gareth ! #COYS #THFC
