Ryan Sessegnon will be playing for Fulham in the Premier League next season according to owner Shahid Khan, even if it is on a loan deal.
The youngster was the star for the side as they made it to the Premier League after defeating Aston Villa in the Championship playoffs and Khan wants to keep the 18-year-old at Craven Cottage for the next season at least.
While speaking to The Times (h/t Football.London), the club owner said:
“We don’t want Sessegnon leaving,
“I don’t think he wants to go. He’s going to be at Fulham for the coming year, leading us into the Premier League.
“Frankly, if we had not been promoted, well, we have a responsibility to our players. He’s been there since he was eight. We want to do the right thing for him and he is Fulham through and through.”
Khan did add that Sessegnon could leave the side for a crazy amount of money next season but would be back on loan at the club as the youngster would not be breaking into the first XI of a side.
“If a club pays a ridiculous fee [for Sessegnon] he’s not going to be breaking into their starting XI so he will be at Fulham next year.
“What the terms are I don’t know.”
The 18-year-old had a wonderful season as he scored 16 times and provided 8 assists for the Cottagers. Tottenham have been heavily linked with a move for the Englishman and could still complete a move for the player as Khan has not ruled out selling the star.
It will be important to note how much we might be willing to spend on the player, given that he has a lot of potential and other clubs are also keeping tabs on the youngster.
Hopefully, Khan, Sessegnon and our management can seal a deal which is acceptable to all parties soon and we might just be able to see the best of the youngster in the white of Tottenham sooner rather than later.
