Kyle Walker-Peters is one of our most exciting and promising youngsters but it looks like the player has picked up an injury while on international duty. According to a report by Football.London, the defender succumbed to an injury as England played China in the ongoing Toulon Tournament.
England are pushing for a third successive win in the prestigious tournament and from what we have seen, they appear to have started on a good note. However, Walker-Peters’ injury will not only create troubles for the Young Lions but it could also be a worrisome prospect for Mauricio Pochettino.
The report claims that Walker-Peters had come on as a substitute in that game and it is unfortunate that he picked up a thigh injury.
The timing is also quite terrible considering that pre-season training for Tottenham will begin in a couple of months. However, the extent of the injury is unknown and let’s hope he is able to recover before that.
Meanwhile, the Young Lions will now have to play without the promising youngster and they have a game coming up against Qatar.
Although Walker-Peters could not feature for the first-team last season, he could be an important player for us in the seasons to come. When Kyle Walker departed to join Manchester City, Walker-Peters was regarded as a strong choice to replace him but Kieran Trippier and Serge Aurier have taken up the role at right-back.
Nevertheless, let’s hope the youngster is able to recover soon and join the pre-season training since that will be a crucial phase for him to prove his quality to Pochettino ahead of the new campaign.
