Barcelona prefer to sign Thomas Lemar over Christian Eriksen, even though the Dane is on their radar, according to reports coming from Spain.
The La Liga giants are looking to add more attacking options for the upcoming season and have even spoken to Monaco about the availability of their French star, according to Sport (h/t The Mirror).
The reason Barcelona want to move for Lemar is because his asking price is expected to be around €70m-€90m, while there is no real figure for Eriksen given that Daniel Levy will ask for a high price for the Danish midfielder.
While Chelsea and Atletico Madrid are also interested in the World Cup-bound Monaco star, the interest from Barcelona will be great news for us given that we need to keep hold of Eriksen for as long as possible.
The former Ajax man scored 10 goals and provided 10 assists for us in the Premier League as we finished 3rd, and was one of the most impressive players for us last season.
The Dane might be tempted to move to the Camp Nou but what we have here is something exceptional and this team that Mauricio Pochettino is building can achieve something great in a year or two with the right additions to the squad.
Another positive for us is having Levy handling all the negotiations related to transfers.
He is known to be a tough cookie and if Barcelona are actually hesitant in dealing with him, there can be no better news for us.
The chairman might frustrate us in certain issues, like the time it takes to close down contract extensions but we haven’t really seen players leave us on the cheap and more often than not, we make money out of players who are sold.
