Tottenham are ready to make a move for Amiens midfielder Tanguy Ndombele, according to L’Equipe.
The report claims that Daniel Levy is ready to spend €40m for the French midfielder, who spent last season on loan at Lyon.
The 21-year-old Frenchman mostly plays as a defensive midfielder and could be seen as an ideal replacement for Mousa Dembele, who has been linked with a move away from Tottenham.
The Amiens player made 47 appearances for Lyon last season and scored a goal and provided 7 assists in all competitions.
Tottenham could do with some options in central midfield, especially with the likes of Dembele and Victor Wanyama struggling with injuries last season.
While Dembele only has one more year left on his contract, selling him now would make more sense than letting him go for free next season.
Wanyama still needs some more time to get back to full fitness and this pre-season will be huge for him too.
We would be playing in the Champions League this season, so we would have to rest and rotate the squad to keep them fresh.
Ndombele might not be a household name for all but he could be a surprise signing for us. Last season, Davinson Sanchez certainly did well for the side even though he moved from Ajax, so we can take a few risks in the transfer window.
Hopefully, we start bringing players into the team now as most of our rivals are already making their moves in the transfer window.
