Luka Modric is eyeing a return to the Premier League after winning four Champions League titles with Real Madrid, according to BetStars.
The former Spurs midfielder was in sublime form as Argentina were hammered 3-0 by Croatia and BetStars have placed us as the favourites to sign the 32-year-old, alongside another player.
Ian Marmion of BetStars was quoted by the Daily Star as stating that we are also favourites to sign the scorer of the first goal against Argentina, Ante Rebic from Eintracht Frankfurt.
“Ante Rebic is one player who has caught the eye of Europe’s top clubs.
“Tottenham lead the way as the 7/2 favourites to recruit the 24-year-old this summer as they look to bolster their attacking options ahead of next season.”
While we face competition from Liverpool for the signing of the 24-year-old winger, Chelsea and Barcelona are next in line to Spurs when it comes to signing Modric.
“Spurs are also the clear 4/1 favourites to reunite with their former star Luka Modric who is set to be offloaded by Real Madrid this summer.
“The North London club are in pole position to land the Croatian playmaker ahead of Chelsea and Barcelona at 10/1 and 12/1 respectively.”
It would be great seeing Modric back at Tottenham playing in our new stadium. His passing ability is still second to none and he would provide us with a lot of creativity from the middle of the park.
Of course, dealing with Real Madrid would be a bit of an issue but we could remind them of our earlier dealings in letting Gareth Bale and Modric join the Spanish giants a number of years ago. The deal might be expensive too but with Daniel Levy on our side, we could get Modric in on a steal.
