South Korea have not had the greatest of World Cups after losing to Mexico and Sweden. The two defeats have ended another World Cup campaign for the Asian side and the only positive from the tournament so far has been Son Heung-min’s excellent goal against Mexico.
The match ended 2-1 and Son was in tears in the locker room as he met South Korean president Moon Jae-in. The Tottenham star was quoted by the Mirror as saying:
“I really didn’t want to cry, but after I saw my teammates and the President in the locker room, I couldn’t stop crying.
“I feel sorry for my teammates, especially those who were having their first World Cup. They really did a great job.
“Our players really did well, but it’s sad that we lost, and the result is something that the players can’t do anything about. We did our best.”
There still is a slight hope for the Asian side as they need to defeat Germany in the final match and hope that Sweden lose big against Mexico.
The image of Son in tears certainly hits a lot as it shows just how important the World Cup is for every player involved.
This might be a bit of good news for us as Son would be coming to Tottenham sooner but no one likes to be eliminated from the World Cup and hopefully, Son and his side will have a great final game of the tournament and prove to be worthy advisories for Germany.
