Tottenham have lost out on one of England’s brightest youngsters in Ben Knight reports the Telegraph. Manchester City signed the 16-year-old attacker from Ipswich despite a last-ditch effort from Tottenham and Mauricio Pochettino to sign the talent.
The report claims that the Premier League champions will be paying £700,000 for Knight, who is the nephew of England cricketer Nick Knight.
Pochettino tried to bring Knight and his family to sign a scholarship and also his first professional contract, which would be presented on his 17th birthday but it was not enough as City won the race for the highly-rated star.
There has been a lot of players who have left England for more football in other countries. In fact, we have seen Jadon Sancho leave City for Borussia Dortmund while we have also lost a talent recently.
We lost Noni Madueke, a talented 16-year-old, to PSV recently and even with Pochettino giving chances to youngsters in the first-team, a number of them decide that they have better chances away from the club.

While Knight would not be playing first-team football next season, he could turn out to be a world-beater like Dele Alli in the future and then it might hurt us a bit to have missed out on the Englishman.
