Argentina and France took part in a 7-goal thriller as the European side deservedly defeated Lionel Messi’s side 4-3 in the first knock-out match of the World Cup 2018.
It was a crazy game, to be honest, with Angel Di Maria and Benjamin Pavard scoring stunners. The difference, however, was Kylian Mbappe as he won a penalty early on and even scored a brace to help the 1998 champions reach the quarter-finals.
There was one particular Tottenham star on show as Hugo Lloris captained the France side and one tweet by Tottenham’s Twitter account certainly captured the tension before the game.

Lloris came out on top in this game, even though he conceded three goals and a number of Spurs fans had witty captions for the image of Messi with our Lloris.
Best player ever and Lionel Messi
