Tottenham‘s bid to sign Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha could have been boosted after The Sun reported that the Ivory Coast international has turned down a massive £125,000-a-week new contract.
The 25-year-old was one of the stars for the Eagles last season as he helped them stave off relegation but clubs such as Tottenham, Everton and even Borussia Dortmund are interested in the former Manchester United attacker.
Zaha had only signed a five-year deal worth £100,000-a-week with Palace 15 months ago and the club will now try to return with a better offer to keep the star at Selhurst Park.
The report claims that after performing well for Palace in recent years, Zaha wants to try his luck at a big club again. The winger failed to light up Old Trafford when he was at Manchester United and Tottenham are leading the race to sign the 25-year-old.
There is one major problem with us trying to sign the attacker, with Palace putting up a £70m price-tag on the 25-year-old.
That might be a little too much to spend on Zaha given that he didn’t really do well for a top club earlier in his career. However, he is worth a punt, given that he has been excellent for Palace and if the player wants to make a move, the club would probably have to sell him.
With Daniel Levy on our side, we could possibly lower the price for Zaha and if we can throw a player as a part of a swap, Palace might just be tempted to part with their star.
