Tottenham offered chance to sign £124m star but only at the expense of losing midfield magician

France international Ousmane Dembele could be going out of Barcelona and a move to Tottenham could be on the cards for the 21-year-old, according to Don Balon (h/t Daily Star).

Dembele only joined the Catalan giants at the start of last season but injuries curtailed his appearances at the Nou Camp. The Frenchman is with the national squad for the World Cup but the report claims that Lionel Messi wants the Catalan side to strengthen themselves next season.

Barcelona are said to be interested in a number of European stars and will use Dembele as a make-weight for the deals.

The report claims that Barcelona want to sell Dembele but no one is willing to meet the £124m asking price for the 21-year-old. The club have even offered the player to Tottenham in exchange of Christian Eriksen.

Christian Eriksen

The Dane has been one of our stars under Mauricio Pochettino and the report also claims that Barcelona have tried similar deals with Chelsea (for Eden Hazard), Manchester United (for Paul Pogba) and even with PSG (for Kylian Mbappe and Marco Verratti).

Barcelona do need to freshen up their squad next season as they have seen Andres Iniesta and Paulinho leave the side ahead of the season.

Eriksen has been linked with a move away from Spurs and especially to Barcelona in recent weeks but we simply cannot sell the Dane as we have something special going on at the club.

Mauricio Pochettino has built a team and Eriksen is an important cog in the machine. Dembele might be a good player to have in the side but that should not come at the price of any of our top stars.
