Tottenham linked with a surprise move for World Cup winner priced at just £18m

Mario Gotze will be a free agent in the summer

Tottenham are monitoring the situation with Mario Gotze and are interested in the 2014 World Cup star, according to Football.london.

The 26-year-old would be available for a really low price of £18m and could be a risk worth taking, according to the report.

The Borussia Dortmund man has had his injury problems since returning to Dortmund from Bayern Munich. Gotze did not have the greatest of seasons with Dortmund as he only scored a couple of goals and provided 6 assists for the side last season.

Gotze didn’t even make it to the German squad for the World Cup but he could be a great option for us if he is looking for a new challenge too.

The 26-year-old can play anywhere in the attack and there is no doubt about the quality he brings to the side. Gotze also has a number of quality years left in him and maybe working with Mauricio Pochettino can help him get back to his glory days.

The former Bayern Munich man would not be a pricey signing either and that could appeal to Daniel Levy and Pochettino as we look to continue building a great side for a number of years. Gotze would thrive playing in this Tottenham side that has one of the best attacks in the Premier League.

Spurs need to ramp up their business for the summer if they are to have any hopes of winning the Premier League or a trophy, and signing Gotze would not be a bad start.
