Benjamin Pavard would not be coming to Tottenham next season and will sign for Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich, according to the Sun (h/t Daily Star).
The Stuttgart defender has been one of the standout performers for the French team that picked up the World Cup last night. France defeated Croatia 4-2 in an entertaining game and Pavard even scored a wonderful goal in the knockout tie against Argentina.
The 22-year-old was linked with a move to Tottenham but it seems that Bayern Munich will sign the player up as they are willing to meet his release clause of £31m.
The French defender can play either as a right-back or as a central defender but his best position is in the heart of the defence. His exploits with Stuttgart and France have also caught the attention of Chelsea and Barcelona, apart from Spurs.
Pavard certainly is a player with immense potential and can get better with time. It is a big blow for us as the player would have been great for us next season and could have grown under Mauricio Pochettino.
The move for Pavard will only make Bayern stronger as they look to keep hold of their Bundesliga title while we are still looking to sign someone before the start of next season.
There’s less than a month before the Premier League season starts and as we all know, the transfer window shuts before the league campaign begins.
Pochettino and the rest of the team will have to work overtime if we are to bring in some quality players.
