Tottenham’s first summer signing unlikely to be done before they head to USA

Jack Grealish

Jack Grealish is not expected to be a Tottenham player before the team leaves for their US tour, according to Football.london.

The Aston Villa midfielder has been linked with a move to Tottenham after Steve Bruce, the Villa manager, claimed that the 22-year-old Grealish would be sold to solve some of the financial issues that plague the Championship side.

The report claims that although Mauricio Pochettino believes Grealish is another Englishman he can develop at Tottenham, the two clubs have not finalised a fee for the 22-year-old.

Grealish was one of the best players for Villa in the second half of last season but he could not help his childhood club make it back to the Premier League after losing the playoff final. The Englishman wants to link up with Pochettino at Tottenham and is also a close friend of Dele Alli.

While Tottenham are expected to fly out for their US tour on Sunday, should a deal be completed for Grealish after that, he would also be flown to the US to meet up with the team and the coaching staff.

Spurs have not had a lot of training for the coming season while Grealish has already been away with the Championship club in Portugal for a training camp, so he would be better prepared than the Tottenham men.

This will come as frustrating news for Spurs fans given that we are yet to sign a player. The more time we waste, the stronger our rivals become by adding quality to their side.

Grealish might not be the biggest name we have been linked with but if Pochettino can develop him, we might have a gem in our hands.
