Tottenham could still have a chance to sign 12-goal star as reports claim Everton are not in the race

Malcom

There is another twist in the Malcom transfer saga as the Liverpool Echo (h/t football.london) claims that Everton have not made a move for the Brazilian.

The report claims that there has been no contact over the transfer of the Bordeaux winger and that might keep the door open for Tottenham to sign the 21-year-old ahead of the new season.

Spurs have not signed a single player in the summer window so far but Malcom had been linked with a move to North London.

Malcom did have a productive season for the Ligue 1 side last season as he racked up 12 goals and 7 assists from just 35 league games.

While Everton are in the same boat as us, having not made a single signing in the summer, there was interest in the 21-year-old from an Italian side too.

The report claims that Serie A giants Inter Milan were leading the race for the Brazilian but the transfer broke down as Inter wanted a loan deal for Malcom with the option to buy him at the end of the loan deal.

While Malcom would be a decent player to have in the side, he would probably not be starting games ahead of Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli or Son Heung-min.

However, we do need quality options on the bench and cover for our top stars. Malcom could turn out to be that and we do need an X-factor in our attack.

Spurs have to act quickly if they are to get someone into the club before the end of the transfer deadline and at this pace, it seems unlikely we will be able to sign anyone until the final day of the window.
