Jan Vertonghen had a wonderful season for club and country as he helped Tottenham finish third and then led Belgium to a third-place finish in the World Cup.
The 31-year-old has been one of our best players in recent years and it should come as no surprise that he is a target for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
Le Parisien (h/t Get French Football News) claims that Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is interested in signing the Belgian defender for the Ligue 1 giants.
The report claims that Tuchel wants to make changes to the playing style and wants to use three central defenders in the team from time to time.
Another player that they have earmarked to sign is Antonio Rudiger from Chelsea. The German hasn’t had the greatest of times at Stamford Bridge since making his move from AS Roma.
The club is also looking at another couple of stars, Leonardo Bonucci of AC Milan and Jerome Boateng of Bayern Munich.
Thankfully, there has been no official approach made for Vertonghen as we prepare for the upcoming season.
Keeping Vertonghen, even if he is 31, is a no-brainer as he is one of the best in the world and even if PSG are willing to splash the cash on the Belgian, we have to reject any offers made for the 31-year-old.
