Former Tottenham striker Dimitar Berbatov wrote on his column on Betfair about Spurs and who they need to sign ahead of the season.

Tottenham have not brought in anyone yet as they were busy extending the contract of a number of players and that is exactly what Berbatov alluded to. The Bulgarian wanted the side to stick together and named three players who were important for the club.

“In Tottenham’s case it’s not who they’re signing it’s who they need to hold on to. For me they obviously need to keep Harry Kane, Alli and Christian Eriksen; they are the triangle of players that cause the most danger and trouble for opposing teams.”

Berbatov also wanted us to keep hold of Mousa Dembele as he believes the Belgian is the link between the attack and the defence.

There have also been a lot of rumours regarding Kane leaving the side but with the new stadium coming up, Berbatov did not believe the Englishman would be leaving anytime soon.

“I don’t see Kane leaving for Real Madrid, not now. The club will have a new stadium soon which shows their ambition and the squad is built on top of a solid foundation. He’ll stay and fight for silverware for now, but further in the future, I cannot be sure.”

Tottenham have a lot of work to do ahead of the season and while we seem to be keeping our core team, we still need to bring in fresh faces given how our rivals have strengthened themselves.

Berbatov did hit the nail on the head suggesting that we need to keep Alli, Kane and Eriksen for a number of years. The base of this Tottenham side is excellent and all we need is one or two quality additions to go to the next level.
