Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has laughed off suggestions that Gareth Bale could be joining Tottenham.

We are one of the few clubs yet to make a signing in the summer and Bale has been linked with a move away from Real Madrid despite helping them win the Champions League last season.

Pochettino was asked if the former Spurs man was a target for the club and speaking to Sky Sports, he said:

“I think it’s not realistic.”

Tottenham have had a trying time in the International Champions Cup too as they have been without nine first-team players due to their extended breaks after the World Cup.

Even without the likes of Jan Vertonghen and Harry Kane, the team did do well in the previous game as they managed a 2-2 draw with Barcelona, eventually losing the game on penalties.

Pochettino was pleased with the fact that many youngsters were getting good game time but the fear is that our team has not added any quality players this season while most of our rivals have.

The Argentine did add that he is working hard on bringing players in.

“My focus is trying to help the team and develop the way we want to play and arrive in the best condition to start the season.”

Hopefully, we will sign a quality player before the deadline and start the season with a win.

Starting the season in form will be important for us as we look at a Premier League title challenge but it will be tough to do it without any new faces in the side.
