Tottenham had a pretty good pre-season tour of the US even though we did not have a number of our stars. The World Cup meant that some of our first-team players were away on breaks but this gave the chance for us to see some of our youngsters light it up on the field.
Christian Eriksen did join the team for a section of the tour and the Dane spoke to the media, where he claimed that Oliver Skipp impressed him a lot.
The youngster can play in the midfield or in the heart of the defence and Eriksen was quoted by Football.london as he lavished praise on the 17-year-old.
“A lot of them have trained with us a few times, guys like Luke Amos and Anthony Georgiou. But I think the guy who’s the youngest is probably Skippy, who’s really taken the game in his hands and is trying to do his thing. He’s been very good.”
The former Ajax player also spoke about what impressed him the most out about Skipp. Eriksen claimed that the youngster is not afraid of the ball and is an all-round midfielder.
“First of all his courage. He is not scared to get the ball, he is not scared to go forward and he is not scared to tackle. He’s an all-round midfielder. And I think with a lot of training, as he gets older, he will be there.”
This will come as a huge praise for the English youngster and we might get to see a lot more of him this season too.
