The Daily Mail claims that Tottenham’s move to the new stadium could be delayed until 2019. A source confirmed to the Daily Mail that the problems with the safety system could “hinder” the stadium for six months, delaying our move until February.
Tottenham had earlier confirmed that the £1billion stadium would be available by the end of October, although experts believe we won’t see a competitive match at the ground until mid/late November.
The Daily Mail further added that Spurs have been informed their fire alarms and other electronics are behind schedule.
The source also told the Daily Mail that the cost of the stadium is rising due to the delay.
“Completion could run into next year, depending on what other issues crop up. A best guess is that this delay will be between three to six months. In addition, the cost of the build has already reached £1billion and it is difficult to predict what the final bill will be. The costs keep piling up.”
Tottenham are set to meet contractors and construction partners Mace to finalise a new timeline for the completion of our new home.
Our first game in our new home was lined up against Liverpool on 15th September but that will not take place now. The report also suggests we will have problems scheduling our match against Manchester City on 28th October as Wembley is set to hold an NFL game too.
Our home matches in the Champions League are likely to be played at Wembley and we might play our Carabao Cup games at our opponent’s ground, according to the report.

Tottenham won their first home game of the season against Fulham and it seems we will be playing a number of our ties away from our new ground for a while.
