Harry Kane is certain to be named the new Tottenham Hotspur captain if Hugo Lloris is stripped off the armband, following his drunk driving arrest, as per the Sun.
The World Cup winner was arrested on Friday morning and he spent seven hours in jail. according to the Sun.
The report claims that Tottenham are weighing their options and could strip Lloris of the captaincy. The Sun even carried a statement from the club which stated:
“The club takes matters such as this extremely seriously and it will be dealt with internally.”
Lloris also posted an apology for the incident (h/t Sun):
“I wish to apologise wholeheartedly to my family, the club, my team-mates, the manager and all of the supporters.
“Drink-driving is completely unacceptable. I take full responsibility for my actions and it is not the example I wish to set.”
The report claims that Kane could lead the team out against Manchester United on Monday, provided the club decide to take the honour away from the World Cup winner.
The Englishman is Spurs’ vice-captain and is the England captain as well.
The report adds that Lloris could face further action with a fine of two weeks’ wages and will appear in court next month.
The 31-year-old is one of the best keepers in the world but it would only be a matter of time before Kane takes over the armband.

The circumstances currently aren’t great but if anyone is to be our captain besides Lloris, it has to be Kane.
