The Daily Mail reports that Tottenham and Christian Eriksen have reached a stalemate regarding his contract extension.
The report adds that the Danish star has two years left on his current deal but wants to be paid on a par with stars like Harry Kane and Hugo Lloris.
Eriksen has been tracked by La Liga giants Real Madrid and Barcelona too, as per the report. He is currently one of the best players in the world and losing him would be a huge blow for us.
The former Ajax man scored 10 goals and assisted 10 more in the Premier League last season and the 26-year-old is in the prime of his career.
A number of Tottenham fans shared their reactions to this development and here are some of their tweets urging Spurs to keep hold of the star.
Get Eriksen a new big long term contract, asap. (please)

If the board doesn’t see eriksen as a player as good as kane and lloris do they even watch our games

And rightly so all our top first team players need to get improved deals in my opinion

Pay him now. For the love of god.

He’s deserve big contract on par with Kane n Lloris, when Eriksen not playing Spurs are an average team so it’s imperative that Levy and the board award him a big contract Eriksen deserve it

Surly we have to be paying him the equivalent wages! It’s not like we don’t have the money to spend on player salaries considering we didn’t spend a penny in the transfer window! #THFC

He’s probably the most important player at the club, right now. It’s an insult to offer him anything less than that.

Eriksen fully deserves to be paid as much as Kane & Lloris.
