Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen has claimed that playing against Lucas Moura is a “nightmare”.
The Brazilian has been in great form this season with three goals in two games and he scored a brace against Manchester United on Monday.
Moura joined us from Paris Saint-Germain for £25million (h/t Evening Standard) in January but we are seeing the best of him after a proper pre-season under his belt.
Vertonghen was quoted by the Evening Standard as saying:
“We play against him every day in training and he’s just a nightmare. He works hard, he has goals in him — left foot, right foot — and so much pace. He’s a great player and an even better guy, so everyone is very happy.”
Moura was exceptional in the game against United and Vertonghen attributed his brilliance to the pre-season under his belt this time around.
“He had a great pre-season this time from what I’ve heard. He’s an unbelievable guy, everyone in the dressing room is so happy for him. I think you could see that. Everyone was hugging him.
“He had a couple of tough years in Paris and last year he didn’t play as much as he wanted. This year, he’s here and he’s an unbelievable player.”
Moura didn’t play well last season but he seems like a new man for Tottenham this time around. The Brazilian had his excellent moments during his spell with PSG but he seems to be doing well for Tottenham now.
The 25-year-old could be a star player for us this season, provided Mauricio Pochettino continues to extract the best out of the Brazilian.
