“Poor miss from the ref” – Some Tottenham fans irate over non-call from referee in 2-1 Liverpool loss

published :

Tottenham were outplayed in the 2-1 loss against Liverpool but there was controversy as we were denied a clear penalty against the Reds in the final seconds of the game.

Erik Lamela had scored in injury time and a couple of minutes later, there was madness in the Liverpool penalty box.

The ball broke kindly to Son Heung-min and as the South Korean was winding up for a shot, Sadio Mane clipped the Spurs man.

Son fluffed the shot but referee Michael Oliver pointed for a goal kick. The fans at Wembley screamed for the right decision but Oliver’s view was obstructed by a number of players.

Nevertheless, the call has left a bitter taste in the mouth as we should have had the chance to level the scores.

Liverpool might have been better but we had a chance to secure a point for our efforts at least. Many Tottenham fans were upset over the missed call and here are some of their reactions from Twitter.
