Tottenham have been hit with a couple of injuries from the game against Huddersfield Town. Mauricio Pochettino revealed that Jan Vertonghen and Mousa Dembele picked up injuries and were replaced at half-time in our 2-0 win.

The Argentine was quoted as saying:

“We need to assess Jan and Mousa in the next few days. We’ll see what happens. It will be difficult for Wednesday but of course, I repeat again, for me it’s always about the squad and the team and I congratulate both Victor and Harry, they were fantastic in 45 minutes.”

The release added that Vertonghen picked up a hamstring injury while Dembele had a quad muscle issue.

Dele Alli is out with a hamstring injury as well and the manager added that the club was assessing the injury.

“It’s the same problem he had for the national team against Spain at Wembley. Now we need to assess him in the next few days to see when it’s possible for him to come back.

“We tried to manage it, he didn’t play too much against Brighton and against Watford at the end he felt the problem again and now we need to help him to be back as soon as possible.”

This is a huge problem for Tottenham as the games are coming in thick and fast. We face Barcelona next in the Champions League and another loss could put us on the back-foot in the group.

The injuries will also test our squad depth and not signing any players in the summer could come back to haunt us in the coming weeks.

Some Tottenham players must step up for the next week or so and hopefully, we will come out unscathed from the clashes against Barcelona and Cardiff before the international break.
