Tottenham tried valiantly but couldn’t get the better of Barcelona at Wembley. The Catalans had the inspirational Lionel Messi in great form as the Argentine scored a brace in the 4-2 win over Spurs.
The home side had their chances and Harry Kane scored to reduce the deficit to 2-1 but it simply was not enough.
The Englishman was proud of our performance as we fought back to make the score 3-2 before Messi wrapped up the game with Barca’s fourth of the night.
Disappointed with the result but proud of the fight and the way we kept going. We’ll learn from it. Big games against PSV now in the group. #COYS #THFC #UCL pic.twitter.com/vglBRMzMHE

The forward was not the only player who tried to highlight the positives from the game. Tottenham went into the break two goals down but fought hard to try and cut the lead.
Kieran Trippier had a tough night against the likes of Messi and co. but the Englishman thanked the fans for their support during the game.
Not the result we wanted but we can take some positives from the second half. Thanks for your support pic.twitter.com/6prtpUOZHK

Tottenham have to pick themselves up as they face Cardiff on Saturday. Toby Alderweireld started against the Catalans and wanted a better performance against the Welsh side.
Disappointing result. Let’s pick ourselves up & go again on Saturday 💪🏼 #COYS pic.twitter.com/n6eWvOYBeW

Spurs are currently in the top four but a win should cut the gap to the leaders. Manchester City and Liverpool face each other in the clash of the weekend, and a win would heap the pressure on the pair ahead of their meeting on Sunday.
