Tottenham are in a three-way battle for Sunderland youngster Josh Maja, according to the Mirror.

The English youngster has been in impressive form for the Black Cats and has nine goals from 12 league appearances.

Manchester City and Southampton are also interested in the striker, as per the report. City had the player on their books earlier but let him leave in 2015.

The youngster is well travelled, as the report claims he had stints with Crystal Palace and Fulham too. Maja would be a free agent come the end of the season, and Sunderland would receive a compensation for the youngster, should he join another club.

The 19-year-old could be a decent signing for Spurs as the club keeps a tab on him. Sunderland are third in League One and the jump to the Premier League might be too much for Maja.

Mauricio Pochettino, however, has a penchant of working wonders with young players, as we have seen with Harry Winks and Dele Alli in recent seasons.

Maja has a long way to go and it will be interesting to track his progress for the rest of the season. The Englishman got just one goal for the Black Cats last season, but if he keeps scoring, there will be a lot of interest from some of the top sides in the coming months.
