Tottenham are interested in signing Beijing Guoan striker Cedric Bakambu, according to L’Est Republican (h/t Sun).
The 27-year-old Congolese striker has bagged 16 goals from 20 league games and has three assists to his name this season.
The report adds that Tottenham have already made contact regarding a deal for the striker, but his huge wage bill is a problem.
The report further claims that Spurs are willing to sign players in January to ensure our stars don’t tire out as the season progresses. Tottenham were the only side in the summer not to have signed any players, but we are just a couple of points behind the Premier League leaders, after eight games.
Spurs have found it difficult to get quality cover for Harry Kane. Vincent Janssen and Fernando Llorente have struggled to bag goals during their time in London.
Bakambu’s move to China wasn’t cheap as Guoan paid £35.4million (h/t Sun) to sign the 27-year-old. It will be interesting to see if we go ahead with the signing in the coming months. Bakambu plays regularly for his current club while he would probably be cover for Kane.
Tottenham need to get the right signings at the club if they are to push for the Premier League title and more.
