Tottenham have been handed a boost in their hopes of signing Tanguy Ndombele from Lyon. The 21-year-old Frenchman was linked with a move to Spurs (h/t Football.london) at the start of the season.
However, the midfielder decided to stay at Lyon and even penned a new deal with the French giants. The 21-year-old has been impressive for the Ligue 1 side since joining them last season, and the report adds that Manchester City are interested in Ndombele as well.
Dealing with Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas is never easy, but the Frenchman has claimed he cannot provide guarantees about the futures of some players.
Aulas was speaking on Radio Scoop (h/t Football.london) as he claimed Hossem Aouar could also move in the summer:
“When players decide to play for Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester… You don’t decide to sell Lacazette or Tolisso, and in the same vein, I can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to keep Ndombele or Aouar next summer.”
The Daily Star (h/t Football.london) has put a price tag of £70million on the 21-year-old for the winter window. Tottenham didn’t add to their squad in the summer but might have to bring fresh faces in January.
Mauricio Pochettino has seen his side start the Premier League season well and are two points behind the league leaders, after eight games.

The right signings can push us closer to a first Premier League crown and hopefully, Ndombele joins us rather than our rivals.
