Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen is “devastated” with his hamstring injury and will be out till December.
The Belgian picked up the problem in our win over Huddersfield and is not part of the national squad for the international break.
Vertonghen’s teammate, Toby Alderweireld, was quoted by Sky Sports as saying:
“He is devastated he can’t play but will try to come back as quickly as possible.
“If you’re injured it’s always mentally hard. He will get through this and become stronger.”
A statement from the club claimed that the Belgian defender had responded well to initial treatment.
“Jan Vertonghen sustained a hamstring injury against Huddersfield Town on 29 September, which has been monitored closely over the past 12 days.
“Further investigation has shown a good initial response to rehabilitation. The Belgium international defender will now continue his recovery with a view to returning to full training by December.”
The centre-back is one of the best defenders in the world, and losing him for a couple of months will be a big blow to the side.
Tottenham play some important games before December. We face West Ham, Manchester City, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Crystal Palace and Chelsea in the Premier League. While we have crucial games against PSV and Inter Milan in the Champions League.
Vertonghen also faces a race against time to be fit for the clash against Arsenal, which is scheduled at the start of December.
