Kenya coach Sebastian Migne has calmed fears about the extent of Victor Wanyama’s injury. The Tottenham star was subbed in the 3-0 win over Ethiopia with an apparent hamstring injury, according to ESPN.
Migne claimed the injury was not a serious one and was quoted by ESPN as saying:
“The injury was not serious.
“At 3-0, there was no need to take a risk with him after he pulled a muscle in his left leg.
“He is our captain, and we need him to be fully fit for a final match in November against Sierra Leone, if they are reinstated.”
The 27-year-old scored a penalty in the win over Ethiopia and added that the team is working hard to reach the African Cup of Nations.
“There was no way we could let down the fans, and now the journey to AFCON continues.
“We will keep working hard in every game and ensure we get results.”
Wanyama hasn’t started any Premier League games this season but played five minutes in our 1-0 win over Cardiff.
The 27-year-old managed eight Premier League starts last season due to a number of injuries. However, we will need a fit Wanyama for the season ahead.
