Mauricio Pochettino was all praise for Erik Lamela after the winger scored the only goal in our 1-0 win over West Ham United.
Moussa Sissoko provided the cross for the Argentine to head in the goal in the first half. The Hammers tried to get back, but Hugo Lloris was brilliant between the sticks as he kept Marko Arnautovic out multiple times.
The Tottenham site claimed this was our best start to a Premier League campaign with 21 points from nine games.
Pochettino was pleased with the performance of the Argentine:
“The most important thing is when you trust and you feel the confidence – we believe in him, we trust in him.”
The manager further added:
“I feel very happy for Erik. It’s his sixth season with us. I’m happy for him, he provided the three points for the team and was very good.
“It’s very good to see him being very competitive again and helping the team, that’s most important.
“I feel always to be consistent, to fight, to try to give your best that the depth of the squad is so important.”
Lamela has had his struggles with injury at Tottenham. The Argentine made 12 appearances for the side a couple of years ago, but he already has scored more goals this season when compared to last season.

The winger could get even better in the months to come, and it will be important to see how he progresses with regular playing time and staying fit.
