Tottenham star Dele Alli is expected to sign a long-term deal at the club, according to the Evening Standard.
Alli has been out with an injury since September, but the report adds that the Englishman will join Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino by committing his future to the club.
The report adds that Davinson Sanchez, Erik Lamela, Kieran Trippier and Son Heung-min are the other Tottenham stars who have signed new deals in 2018.
The manager provided an update on the midfielder’s current situation and was quoted by the Standard as saying:
“It is good news but we need to careful.
“We are happy that he started (to train) today with the group. We hope he will be available for Monday but we are not sure if he’ll be in the squad.”
The 22-year-old hasn’t been in great form this season and wasn’t deployed in our faltering Champions League campaign.
The report adds that the Englishman could be fit to face Manchester City on Monday as he has returned to training.
With just six appearances to his name and two goals this season, Alli has been a huge miss for Spurs. However, getting the Englishman to commit to a long-term deal is excellent news indeed. The 22-year-old is still one of the best players in the league and will only get better under Pochettino.
