UEFA have stepped in to work with Tottenham and the FA over the condition of the Wembley pitch, according to the Daily Mail.
Spurs play PSV in the Champions League next week and the report claims there could be more problems with the Wembley turf.
An NFL game was held on Sunday with Manchester City playing Spurs on Monday. The pitch didn’t look in great condition and still had numerous markings from the tie on Sunday.
UEFA released a statement on Tuesday (h/t Daily Mail) which read:
“UEFA is closely monitoring the situation at Wembley and working with the club, the FA and management of the stadium, to guarantee safe playing conditions for the Champions League match.”
The report adds that Wembley staff are not willing to wash over the surface and are working to ensure the pitch is playable.
The ground staff had warned Spurs that the pitch could be damaged if we played against City on Monday, as per the report.
Tottenham have delayed moving into the new stadium as Daniel Levy confirmed we would be playing our home games at Wembley till the end of the year.
The pitch looked more like an NFL one as a giant logo of the league was visible when the two football teams kicked off on Monday.
