Tottenham dispatched West Ham United 3-1 in the Carabao Cup and set a date with Arsenal in the next round.
Mauricio Pochettino made several changes to his starting XI with youngsters such as Juan Foyth and Kyle Walker-Peters impressing for Spurs.
However, the manager praised Davinson Sanchez for his display, even labelling him as a beast.
The manager was speaking to the media after the game and was quoted by Football.london as saying:
“For me, the surprise was Davinson Sanchez, he was a beast playing two games in less than 48 hours. He has done very well, he is very strong physically and mentally. Today he was fantastic on the pitch, to praise him isn’t enough, the effort was fantastic.”
Tottenham were stretched player-wise as we had played against Manchester City on Monday night. Nevertheless, Sanchez produced a quality performance, despite playing against the Cityzens at Wembley.
The Colombian has to be in top form for a while since Jan Vertonghen has a hamstring injury. Sanchez and Toby Alderweireld are our only fit senior central defenders, and it is imperative they keep things tight at the back.
The former Ajax man had an impressive first season at Spurs, and he must continue his development at the club in this campaign.
Our next game is another tough fixture against Wolverhampton Wanderers, and the Colombian must keep the home side from scoring past our defence.
