Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld admitted playing at Wembley has affected the team.
Spurs have played their home games at Wembley this season, and there is no clarity on when the new stadium would be complete.
Daniel Levy recently confirmed that we would be sticking to the ground till the end of the campaign.
Alderweireld was “grateful” to play at Wembley but claimed it didn’t have the same feeling as White Hart Lane.
The Belgian was quoted by the Evening Standard as saying:
“We never used Wembley as an excuse and we will not do that now. But it has affected us.
“I am grateful to play at Wembley, it is a very historical place, but it is not the same feeling as White Hart Lane. There we had a special home feeling.”
Alderweireld claimed the club was doing everything it can to speed up the construction and get the stadium ready. The new home would be built on the same spot as the Lane, and the defender could not wait to play there.
“It is on the same spot as White Hart Lane, so that is going to be special and to play in that sort of stadium will be wonderful and give us a boost.”
Wembley has caused problems for Tottenham as we had to play against Manchester City just 24 hours after an NFL game. The pitch was in tatters and we ended up losing the game 1-0.

However, Spurs have rebounded well from that loss, notching up impressive wins over West Ham and Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup and Premier League respectively.
