Tottenham star Christian Eriksen could move into the final year of his current deal with no progress made on a new deal unless something “drastic” happens, according to the Times (h/t Football.london).
The report claims that the player and club cannot come to terms after starter contract negotiations at the end of the previous season.
Eriksen is one of our best players in the side, and he is one of the few top stars to agree a new deal at the club.
Harry Kane and Mauricio Pochettino have already penned new deals at the club while Dele Alli and Son Heung-min are others that have extended their stays at Tottenham.
There are a number of issues which haven’t been finalised yet at Tottenham, according to the report, which includes Mauricio Pochettino’s future, transfer budgets and the player wages.
The report adds that Eriksen’s current wages are £70,000 which was upped from £35,000, however, the former Ajax man is still way behind the likes of Kane and Alli.
The Dane has had his injury problems this season and only recently came back to complete fitness. He is expected to participate in the international break.
Eriksen has to stay fit if we are to achieve a successful season this time and we won’t have it easy after the international break either.
We play undefeated Chelsea once the players return, and Eriksen could have a major say if we get the three points or not.
