The top six Premier League clubs are set to oppose any restrictions on foreign players that the FA is considering with Brexit looming.
The report from the Sun claims the proposal is to be debated by the 20 Premier League clubs with the number of non-home grown players being cut from 17 to 12.
The FA believe this will help the English game and in exchange for a limit of overseas players, clubs will be provided freedom to sign players from across the world.
Work permits for players would be granted by the government, and there would not be any requirement of players to have represented their national sides for a certain percentage of games.
Tottenham have the full limit of foreign players in the side with 17 while Manchester City also have 17 in their current side. Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal have 16 foreign players while Manchester United have 14, as per the report.
The report adds that the changes will not be immediately put into effect and would be brought in over a three-year period giving clubs time to finalise their player list.
The Brexit issue is certainly difficult to deal with for the Premier League, and hopefully, any changes being brought in won’t affect is too drastically in the near future.
Mauricio Pochettino has created a fantastic team at the moment, and we need to push on rather than worrying about who can play for the side.
