Miguel Almiron Tottenham

Tottenham face more competition for the signing of MLS star Miguel Almiron as the Chronicle (h/t Sun) report Newcastle have joined the race for the 25-year-old.

The report claims that Daniel Campos, Almiron’s agent was present as Newcastle defeated Bournemouth 2-1.

The 25-year-old plays as a central attacker, but is comfortable down the left too. The Paraguayan has been in excellent form for Atlanta United with 13 goals and 11 assists in 34 games.

The report adds that although Newcastle are interested in the 25-year-old, negotiations have not started for the attacker.

Campos added fuel to the fire by claiming there are other clubs interested in the midfielder. The agent was quoted by the Sun as saying:

“We saw Newcastle’s party because we are in England.

“There are two or three clubs interested and we have been working in the UK.”

Mauricio Pochettino Tottenham

The report claims that Tottenham were leading the race for Almiron and the player could cost around £22m. Speaking to Fox Deportes USA (h/t Sun), Atlanta’s president Darren Eales claimed Almiron would leave in January:

“Almiron’s future is already decided and will go to England in the European winter market.”

The Paraguayan could be a smart signing to make and given he is South American, Mauricio Pochettino could get the best out of the 25-year-old if we land him.

Tottenham didn’t sign any players in the summer, and we need to change that once the winter window opens.
