Tottenham star Dele Alli has been named as the most valuable midfielder in the continent, after a study by the CIES Football Observatory (h/t Daily Star).
The report claims an algorithm is used to calculate a player’s value with transfers, age, contract length and performances taken into account.
Alli might not be having a great season this time with Spurs, but he is the highest valued midfielder in Europe with nine Premier League stars in the top 10.
The Tottenham star’s valuation is at £144.36m (h/t Daily Star) with Kevin de Bruyne of Manchester City coming in second at £132.88m (h/t Daily Star).
Paul Pogba of Manchester United is the only other player to cross £100m with a valuation of £115.3m (h/t Daily Star).
The top five is rounded off by N’Golo Kante and Eric Dier while Saul Niguez is sixth, and is the only non-Premier League player in the list.
The others who make up the top 10 include Liverpool trio Georginio Wijnaldum, Naby Keita and Fabinho, while Jorginho just makes it into the 10th spot.
The report adds that players such as Raheem Sterling and Philippe Coutinho were not included into the list as they are categorised as forwards and not midfielders.
Alli is just 22 and is yet to reach his potential under Mauricio Pochettino. It is incredible to see the youngster ahead of Kevin de Bruyne, and hopefully, we will see the Englishman perform miracles for us this season.
