Moussa Sissoko has turned his Tottenham career around with a number of fantastic performances this season. The French midfielder put on another show against Chelsea at the weekend and earned a lot of praise from Ben Davies.
The Spurs left-back claimed the 29-year-old received a lot of criticism earlier but has proved his ability on the pitch.
The Welshman was quoted by ESPN saying:
“I thought he was excellent again.
“He’s really showing the quality he’s got, but we never had any doubts about what he can bring to this team.
“He got a bit of flak, sometimes perhaps unfairly, and he became a bit of a scapegoat when we didn’t perform at our best. But I thought on Saturday, and this season, he’s been excellent for us so we’re delighted for him.”
The Welsh defender was unsure if Sissoko was affected by the criticism thrown at him and added that the Frenchman is showing how important he really is.
“He’s really shown his importance to this team. He’s an incredibly hard worker and that’s what we’ve got throughout this team.”
Tottenham have another tough game in midweek against Inter Milan and it will be interesting to see if Sissoko keeps his place in the side.
